My name is Priya Senecal (she/they), and I am passionate guiding people to a have better understanding of how sex, sexuality and relationships are connected to our overall wellbeing and humanity. I enjoy supporting individuals on this journey as well as guiding professionals who are looking to create a more affirming, sex positive, mental health practice, wellness practice or classroom environment.
I am an LGBTQIA+ affirming, kink/polyam-aware, sex and relationship therapist and a holistic sex educator.
I presently hold licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Connecticut and am an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist.
I received my B.A. in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and my M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Assumption College. I also hold two certificates of study in Child & Family Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy from the Aaron T. Beck Institute for Cognitive Studies at Assumption College.
I completed a 2-year training program in Holistic Sex Therapy with the Institute for Sexuality, Education and Enlightenment (ISEE) as part of my AASECT Certification as a sex therapist.
Several years ago it became clear to me that there is a lack of understanding and acceptance of relationship styles and identities that do not fit the ever-engrained heteronormative/monogamous narrative. This can have a profound impact on mental health and wellness for those of us who fall outside of these "norms."
I also realized there is a substantial need for professionals to be equipped to support members of erotically/relationally marginalized groups and a need to provide, trauma-informed, sex-positive, polyam/kink-aware services.
Sex, Mind & Body, PLLC is my dream. I am honored to use my skills as a sex therapist, coach and holistic sex educator to give back to the communities I feel so very connected to and that I am a part of in many ways.
I am eager to be a source of knowledge, comfort, support, and hope for others on their journey toward their own sexual and relational empowerment! And to guide professionals toward creating more sex positive and affirming spaces for their own clients.
